Jørnal: A Journaling App Where the Page Is Always Blank
Jørnal is a minimalist journaling app that always presents a blank page, focusing on a single entry per session. It eschews folders, markdown, social features, and AI prompts. Completed entries are locked and cannot be rewritten. It offers free full archive downloads, and a paid plan includes incremental backups, email backups, and semantic search ('Recall'). All data remains within the user's account and is never shared or used for training.

Every entry as a Markdown file, bundled into one ZIP and named by date. Download it from Settings whenever you want. Always free, no expiration.

The same format, but only the entries written since you last downloaded. Useful for keeping a synced copy on your own machine without re-fetching everything each time.

“Recall” is a search that matches by meaning rather than literal words. You type a question in your own language—“the time I felt lost in Madrid”, “early morning entries”, “the week I started running”—and “Recall” returns entries whose contents fit the idea, even if you never used those exact words.
Each entry gets a fingerprint as you write—a small mathematical signature on our own servers. When you search, your question gets a fingerprint too, and the closest matches by meaning come back.
Fingerprints stay scoped to your account; they're never shared, never used to train anything, never sent to a third-party. And we definitely don't use any AI providers.
