LLM Inference Explained: How Models Generate Responses Faster

You type a question into ChatGPT or Claude. For a split second, nothing happens. Then the answer starts flowing, word by word. That brief pause and the steady stream that follows are two very different jobs happening on a GPU. Understanding them is the key to building AI apps that feel instant, serve thousands of […] The post LLM Inference Explained: How Models Generate Responses Faster appeared first on Analytics Vidhya.

SplatLab: Autonomous Scientific Discovery for 3DGS Research

arXiv:2610.30468v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Reproducing a published 3DGS paper takes weeks of expert engineering before any extension can be proposed. Prior autonomous-research systems read papers, draft hypotheses, and write code, but are limited by short fixed templates, low executability, and weak traceability, and none has been demonstrated end-to-end in a live computer-vision subfield with intense activity. SplatLab is an autonomous research system for 3D Gaussian Splatting that addresses these limitations. Given a research prompt, a target-paper URL, or no input at all, it reproduces a published baseline, proposes an extension, trains and ablates across Mip-NeRF 360 and LLFF, writes the manuscript, and binds every reported number to a logged training run. Five design choices dis…

FusionEval: Benchmarking Model Fusion for Large Language Models

arXiv:2610.30162v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Model fusion aims to integrate the capabilities of multi-expert models into a single model. Existing evaluations offer limited coverage of reasoning with long chains of thought and tool use, while strong average performance can mask substantial losses in individual expert capabilities. We introduce FusionEval, a benchmark that provides controlled expert pools, integrates fusion methods with and without additional training, and offers a unified evaluation suite. The pools contain domain experts independently trained from Qwen3 and Llama base models across math, code, science, instruction following, and tool use. The suite evaluates capability retention and computational cost on eight public benchmarks under comparable data access rules, repor…

Speedrunning Relational Foundation Model Pretraining

arXiv:2610.28855v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Progress on foundation model pretraining is gated by who can afford a trial, and relational pretraining is no exception. Recipes are developed inside individual labs, reported under private protocols, and do not accumulate. Speedrun leaderboards remove that barrier by decentralizing the search rather than the training run. The problem is fixed, the stack is open, entries are ranked by wall-clock time to a quality target, and one GPU is enough to hold the record. We introduce modded-nanoRT, the first such leaderboard for Relational Transformers. Which database to hold out decides whether the benchmark can resolve improvements at all, so we fix it by calibration, ranking six candidates by how sharply a 45-minute learning curve separates improv…

Sure, let’s smoosh SpaceX and Tesla together, who cares

Mars not depicted. | Image: Cath Virginia / The Verge, Getty Images Oh sure, SpaceX's credit risk is pretty high because it's about to borrow another $40 billion to spend on Nvidia chips, but who cares about that? SpaceX and Tesla have formed special committees to discuss a merger! The degree to which you find this merger compelling likely has to do with the degree to which you believe Elon Musk about wanting to go to Mars, or "spread the light of consciousness," as he put it in this week's SpaceX earnings call (and earlier S-1). Now, a reasonably informed person knows that we don't have the technology - or, frankly, even the raw information to build the technology - in order to support human life in space. … Read the full story at The Verge.

In Meta’s version of the future, I’ll have my Muse call your Muse

Mark Zuckerberg is barrelling toward a future in which an autonomous network of AI agents will run our lives - shopping for us, working for us, talking to other people's AI agents for us. Are humans ready for this very specific and unrelenting vision of a life in which we communicate primarily through bot proxies? Actually, don't answer that. The more urgent question coming off Meta's quarterly earnings call Wednesday night is more likely to be: "Is he?" Zuckerberg is staking Meta's future on Muse, the personal AI agent it released to the general public last month. It's early days, but Zuckerberg told investors on Wednesday's call that he s … Read the full story at The Verge.

Scalable Stress-Constrained Topology Optimization: A Super-resolution and Simultaneous Approach Based on Machine Learning

arXiv:2610.28703v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Large-scale topology optimization (TO) remains computationally demanding, especially for stress-constrained problems. To address this challenge, we propose the simultaneous neural topology optimization (SNTO) framework where we represent state, adjoint, and design variables with custom neural networks (NNs) whose parameters are jointly optimized within a single optimization loop that leverages continuous adjoint analysis and automatic differentiation. This optimization minimizes a multi-component loss function that combines the design objective, an aggregation of the local stress constraints, and the potential energy functionals. Our NNs have a unique architecture that accelerates convergence while enabling the networks to capture sharp grad…
