Cross-sector · 20 races · $68.8M

Crypto and AI PACs are spending in the same races, often through the same two committees

20 races have seen spending from both crypto and AI PACs, totaling more than $68.8 million. The most common pairing is Defend American Jobs (the Republican arm of the FairShake crypto super PAC network) and American Mission (the Republican arm of the Leading the Future AI PAC network), which have spent in nine of these races, always supporting the same candidate. One of the leaders of Leading the Future is also the longtime spokesperson for the Fairshake network.

Intra-sector conflict · NY-H-12

Two AI PACs spent $20.4M opposing each other in the same primary

The OpenAI- and Andreessen Horowitz-linked Think Big has spent $8.1 million opposing Alex Bores in New York’s District 12; the Anthropic-linked Jobs and Democracy PAC has spent $12.3 million supporting him. This has been the only intra-sector conflict so far this cycle.

Party lean · crypto vs. AI

Crypto PAC support leans Republican, AI PAC support leans Democratic

Crypto PACs have spent $33.3 million supporting Republicans and $25.8 million supporting Democrats (56%  Republican, 44%  Democrat). AI PACs have flipped that ratio, spending $26.5 million for Democrats and $13.1 million for Republicans (33%  Republican, 67%  Democrat).

Opposition spending · $22.7M

Nearly all negative spending targets Democrats

Of the money spent opposing candidates rather than supporting them, $22.6 million has gone against Democrats and just $98,000 against Republicans. The largest targets are Illinois Senate candidate Juliana Stratton ($10 million) and New York District 12 candidate Alex Bores ($8.1 million).
