Alibaba has unveiled Qoder 1.0, marking a significant leap from its predecessor as an AI IDE to a full-fledged autonomous development workbench. Announced on May 15, 2026, the new platform empowers users to focus solely on requirement definition while an Agent team independently handles execution, verification, and delivery. The tool is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux users.

Qoder 1.0 introduces the Quest window, a standalone interface that consolidates task management, status tracking, artifact review, and knowledge invocation. Users input their requirements, and the Agent autonomously manages the entire process within the workbench. The platform also supports cross-project parallel tasks, enabling users to monitor progress across multiple projects on a single screen without switching windows, significantly boosting efficiency for complex projects.

On the enterprise front, Qoder 1.0 integrates previously separate features—Memory, Repo Wiki, and Knowledge Cards—into a unified knowledge engine. This engine facilitates team-level knowledge sharing, allowing individual expertise to quickly become organizational assets. For instance, when executing tasks, the Agent automatically accesses team standards, historical decisions, module relationships, coding conventions, and technology stack knowledge. Real-world data shows that since the knowledge engine's launch, code retention rates have increased by 11%, input token consumption has dropped by 40%, and the number of conversation rounds has decreased by 33%.

The upgrade is underpinned by advancements in Harness Engineering. Qoder transforms traditional chat-based interactions into a structured task runtime, where the Agent's execution process is organized into reviewable artifact chains with clear ownership and status at each step. Additionally, the platform shifts from scattered context supply to knowledge engineering that permeates the runtime, enabling the Agent to automatically invoke domain-specific knowledge during planning, generation, and review stages. This effectively mitigates noise issues that plague traditional retrieval-based knowledge access.
