OpenAIRE and Alien Intelligence are launching a 12-week Open Science hackathon focusing on AI, starting June 2, with submissions due August 20. Whether you're a researcher chasing a question, a developer building the next tool, or an analyst turning data into evidence, there's a track for you.
Four themes span different skill levels - from "Explore and Narrate" (no coding needed) to "Build" and "Analyse," plus a "Wildcard" category for the unconventional. The catch? You'll be working with the OpenAIRE Graph API and the Graph AI plugin powered by Alien Intelligence.
Winners across three tiers earn AI gateway credits by Alien, promotion by OpenAIRE, featured case studies, speaking slots, and the grand prize winning team or individual gets 500 euros and a pilot partnership with travel grants to OSFAIR 2027. Community voting runs in August 21-29, so your peers help crown a favorite too.
