On May 28, 2026, Jiangsu Shagang Steel Co., Ltd. (Shagang) officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with DingTalk, Alibaba's enterprise communication and collaboration platform. The partnership focuses on building a unified collaboration infrastructure and deploying AI applications at scale, with DingTalk's Wukong AI suite as the core engine. The goal is to create a new AI-driven workplace for the steel industry.

Shagang, founded in 1975, is China's largest private steel enterprise, with an annual steel output ranking among the top in the country. It has been a Fortune China 500 company for many consecutive years, employing tens of thousands of workers and operating globally. In recent years, Shagang has prioritized digital and intelligent transformation as a core corporate strategy, investing heavily in digital infrastructure, smart manufacturing, and AI applications to become a world-class digitalized steel company.

Under the agreement, Shagang will build its enterprise collaboration platform on DingTalk's dedicated digital foundation, integrating existing OA, HR, financial, and other core business systems. This will enable unified account management, single sign-on, and data interoperability, supported by private hybrid data storage and security controls. On the AI front, Shagang will introduce DingTalk's intelligent agent development platform to systematically deploy AI scenarios. A key example is the "KYT Safety Hazard Auto-Inspection Assistant," which uses AI vision recognition to monitor live video feeds from production sites, automatically identifying potential safety risks.

Beyond technology, the partnership includes a joint initiative to cultivate AI talent at Shagang through systematic training workshops, aiming to create a team of digital pioneers. The companies will also develop and promote reusable AI application scenarios and benchmark digital solutions.

Chen Shaohui, Executive Director and Co-President of Shagang Group, stated: "This strategic cooperation with DingTalk is an important milestone in Shagang's intelligent transformation. DingTalk's deep expertise in enterprise collaboration and AI applications will provide strong support for building a world-class digital steel enterprise. We expect that through the in-depth use of DingTalk and Wukong, AI will truly become a productivity tool for every Shagang employee, enhancing management efficiency and operational competitiveness."

Chen Hang, founder of DingTalk and Wukong, commented: "The steel industry is the backbone of China's manufacturing, and a key battleground for large-scale AI deployment. This cooperation with Shagang marks an important milestone for DingTalk and Wukong in heavy industry. We will deeply integrate cutting-edge AI capabilities with Shagang's actual business, helping them build truly practical and replicable industry AI benchmarks, and providing a model for the digital transformation of China's steel industry."

This agreement signals the official start of deep collaboration between DingTalk and a leading private steel company in AI applications. Going forward, both parties will continue to explore Wukong-centric intelligent applications, expanding AI's role in steel production, safety management, supply chain coordination, and more, setting a new benchmark for China's manufacturing digitalization.
