Quoting Drew Breunig

A new model would arrive at the same price (or cheaper!) and paper over most of your problems.</p> <p>But then Fable landed. It was (and still is!) <em>incredible</em>. But the cost was so high and Opus was <em>good enough</em> (as was 5.6, K3, and even GLM) for <em>most</em> of the code we needed.</p> <p><em>So we started to think about what work went where.</em></p></blockquote> <p class="cite">&mdash; <a href="https://www.dbreunig.com/2026/08/23/fable-the-end-of-moore-s-law.html">Drew Breunig</a>, Fable &amp; The End of the Free Lunch</p> <p>Tags: <a href="https://simonwillison.net/tags/drew-breunig">drew-breunig</a>, <a href="https://simonwillison.net/tags/anthropic">anthropic</a>, <a href="https://simonwillison.net/tags/claude">claude</a>, <a href="https://simonwillison.net/tags/llm-pricing">llm-pricing</a>, <a href="https://simonwillison.net/tags/ai">ai</a>, <a href="https://simonwillison.net/tags/llms">llms</a>, <a href="https://simonwillison.net/tags/generative-ai">generative-ai</a>, <a href="https://simonwillison.net/tags/claude-mythos-fable">claude-mythos-fable</a></p>

It’s unwise to end local scrutiny of NHS trusts | Letters

Abolishing the role of statutory governors is ill-advised, says Jean Flanagan. Plus a letter from Jonathan Phillips on the abolition of Healthwatch I wonder how many members of the public are aware that the latest health plan for England, due to be ratified by parliament this autumn, abolishes the role of statutory governors on all of its constituent health trusts? For a number of years I have volunteered to act as a governor at two hospital trusts in Yorkshire. As a former health professional and principal nursing educator, I have brought years of experience to the role, for which I have been elected locally. For any organisation to wilfully remove hundreds of such skilled and committed activists from their supportive scrutiny seems ill-advised. Continue reading...

Why every AI agent needs an org chart

A chief information officer I was talking with recently said something that stuck with me: Permissions tell an agent what it’s allowed to do. They say nothing about what you meant. This observation touches on one of the core artificial intelligence challenges leaders face today. As AI agents increasingly move into everyday work, they’re operating […] The post Why every AI agent needs an org chart appeared first on SiliconANGLE.
