We haven't tested the LUBA 3 yet, but it gets some significant upgrades over the last model. Review: Mammotion LUBA 2Most robot mowers that use satellite positioning need a separate base-station antenna mounted somewhere with a clear view of the sky. Positioning that antenna ends up mattering a lot, and it can be a hassle. The LUBA 3 has NetRTK, which is basically the ability to receive satellite corrections over 4G or Wi-Fi instead. That makes the setup much simpler, letting you set it up by pretty much just walking the mower around the edge of your lawn with the app. You get a 360-degree LiDAR sensor and a pair of cameras to handle the obstacles. Mammotion says it can recognize more than 300 types of obstacles, so it should be able to steer around the kids' toys and the dog on its own. It'll also switch between satellite and LiDAR based on the situation. The LUBA 3 is rated for yards up to 0.75 acres, and the app lets you split that into as many as 30 zones, so you can use different schedules for the front, the back, and the driveway. All four wheels have their own motor, which is why it can climb slopes as steep as an 80% incline, which is steeper than most people would want to push a regular mower up. The suspension also lets it roll over curbs and roots up to 50 mm, or about 2 inches, high.The 3000H is the high-cut version, so the height runs from 2.2 to 4 inches, which suits taller grass better. The 12Ah battery runs for up to 175 minutes on a charge, and Mammotion rates it at around 5,400 square feet an hour, so a quarter-acre lawn should get done in a couple of hours without the mower having to go back to the dock, in most cases. If your yard is on the smaller side, the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500H covers up to 0.37 acres, and you can split it into up to 20 zones. This one doesn't get the satellite positioning, so you just get the LiDAR and cameras. It's also quite a bit narrower than the LUBA 3, so you'll be able to use it in areas as tight as 27 inches. You still get the same all-wheel drive and the same 80% slope rating as the bigger model, which is rather unusual for its size. The mini 2 can also do edging, which the LUBA 3 cannot. There's a fixed 4.7-inch cutting disc on the side that lets it mow down to roughly 2.1 inches from a wall or fence. What that means is that you should have a lot less trimming to do by hand afterward. It handles that on its own, though, and you can cap charging at 80% if you're paranoid about battery health degrading over time. Both mowers come with a built-in 4G module and three years of data included, so you can start, stop, and schedule mowing from anywhere, and you can watch a live feed from the cameras when you're away. How I rated this deal I've been keeping an eye on robot mower pricing for a while now, and they have stayed expensive as the tech has improved by leaps and bounds. At 20% off, the LUBA 3 AWD 3000H lands in our 3/5 bracket on savings alone, but this is a flagship that only launched at CES this year, $2,239 matches the lowest we've seen it go, which was during Prime Day, and the free stand takes the total value past $600. The mini 2 discount is smaller at 10%, but it's also a brand-new model, all-wheel drive at this size is rare, and the coupon and the stand together take the savings to around $330, or a bit over 16%. Mammotion does have sales like this a few times a year around the big holidays, so you can expect to see these prices again, but they're about as good as we've seen on either of these models.
