I gave Perplexity the following task: "Scan and read all the PDF files in my local Downloads folder. Create a two-page summary of the information in those files. Perplexity even found duplicates among the files, which it accounted for in its analysis. The summary itself was succinct but detailed, capturing just the right information. 2. Summarize articles from OneDrive in the cloudFor this one, I needed a summary of all my articles that discuss Perplexity. But I wanted the AI to scan my online OneDrive folder for them. I gave it the following mission: "Summarize all the articles that discuss Perplexity AI in the Word Documents folder in my online OneDrive account. Add that summary to a new Word document and save the document in my Word Documents folder in OneDrive." To set this up, I had to add Microsoft 365 as a connector, which I had already done.Perplexity found all the related documents in OneDrive and then generated a five-page summary. The information appeared in the chat window and was also available as a downloadable Word document. The summary itself was comprehensive. And since these were articles I had written, I was able to confirm that the details were correct without any mistakes or hallucinations. 3. Find unanswered emails and draft repliesNext, I was eager to find emails that I hadn't yet answered. Convert filesFor this one, I wanted to convert older Word and Excel files into the modern format. Folder access was initially blocked. Then Perplexity was unable to write the older files to a new Legacy folder. Other problems popped up along the way, some of which required my permission or input to resolve.But with each obstacle, the AI managed to find a workaround, which impressed me. In the end, Perplexity was able to complete the task with some minor changes, and the results were worth the wait. Despite a couple of hiccups, Perplexity's Personal Computer agent for Windows proved as effective and helpful as the Mac version. With Windows as my primary work environment, I can now turn to Perplexity to run certain tasks more easily and efficiently than I can on my own.
